Each BluApple can absorb ethylene gas in a typical refrigerator, produce bin, or storage container for about three months (refill packets are available).
Timmy Chou when he was inspired by the science applied for years to prevent spoilage in industrial environments like ocean liners, trucks and warehouses. He created a product that makes use of the same non-toxic active ingredient (sodium permanganate). One of my favorite aspects of this company is that they provide a money back guarantee, which they are proud to honor. I love when a company is proud of their product!
Pros:
- Helps keep produce fresh
- Lasts 3 months
- Affordable
- Non-toxic
- Non-allergenic
- Refillable
- Money back guarantee
Cons:
- None! They're affordable and well worth the money!
Overall, I love my Bluapples! Some of our fruits and vegetables have lasted weeks longer than usual. There was a really big noticeable difference in the berries. Usually within a day or two of bringing berries home from the store they would spoil or get moldy but with our Bluapple, berries have lasted at least a week and sometimes two! It has truly amazed us and we will be continuing to buy them. I even signed up for their email notification so they'll email me when its time to refill it!
Connect with Bluapple on Facebook and their website.

Win it!: Bluapple has generously offered THREE of my readers their own Bluapple pack! This giveaway is open to US and Canada.

I learned that they will extend the life of my fruits and veggies! I am definitely going to look for them we always have a lot of fruits and veggies on hand and it would be nice to have them last a little longer.
ReplyDeleteIt was fascinating to read the chemistry of how it works on their FAQ page.
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know this existed! I love that they extend the life of fruit and veggies! At home its just my husband and I, and things have a tendency to go bad before we get to them!
ReplyDeleteI've long heard about ethylene gas- but never really understood exactly what it is and how it effects the ripening (and spoiling) of produce. Because I can only get to the fresh produce markets once a week (or less) - so it would mean a lot to use to be able to preserve our fruits & veggies by up to three times longer. Not to mention save money and eliminate waste, too.

I like that it preserves my apples. I can't afford to keep wasting our fruit. I'm not rich.
ReplyDeletei like that its non allergenic non toxic and just what it does in general is so innovative i havent seen anything like this since baking soda!
ReplyDeleteI like that they are blue
ReplyDeleteWhen it is time to replace the packet, don't throw the spent zeolite granules away! We recommend that you put the spent zeolite granules in your houseplants or in your garden. The zeolite granules are a natural soil and the residual MnO2 provides trace minerals to the soil. Your plants will love it.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard about these! But what an amazing idea!! I love that they will help to keep my fruits lasting!
ReplyDeleteI learned that the Blue Apple has a one year refill kit so I don't have to throw it away after one use.
ReplyDeleteI worked in the produce section at a Target before, so I know how ethylene gas works, and how the higher amounts released by apples can cause other fruits around them (especially bananas, avocados, etc) to ripen and decay more quickly...I love apples, and my bf is a banana fan, so this would really, really come in handy for us!
ReplyDeletePlus, there's a refill kit? Sold. :-)
I learned that it works by absorbing the gas which in turn keeps the fruit fresher longer!

The Bluapple is designed to provide effective ethylene gas absorption for three months in a typical home refrigerator produce bin or storage container. The active ingredient does not "wear out", but continues to absorb ethylene until it has reached its capacity.
ReplyDeleteI was actually wondering how they would work for bananas...so i am very glad that they actually already had an answer on the website... these little things look pretty amazing :)
