Our Visit to Holiday Nights in Greenfield Village

Holiday Nights in Greenfield Village
December 5-7, 12-14, 18-23 and 26-27, 2014 (6:30pm - 10pm)

Holiday Nights in Greenfield Village was voted Top Holiday Event by USA Today and Reader’s Digest, and now my family knows why. It's been cold in Michigan the last few weeks but that didn't stop us from wanting to experience the fun of Christmas past at Greenfield Village. My mom has been excited for this event since Hallowe'en in Greenfield Village and my brother is home from college for Christmas so we thought this would be such a great night out together as a family!

"Holiday Nights in Greenfield Village is like stepping into a Christmas card from the past — the golden glow from candlelit windows, the scent of roasting chestnuts, the sound of carolers in the distance, the jangle of sleigh bells. This is how the holidays are supposed to be. No wonder Holiday Nights has become the most popular holiday event in the region. Where else will you find lantern-lit paths, costumed presenters, horse-drawn wagons and Model T rides, plus Santa with live reindeer. It’s perfect, right down to the spectacular fireworks display that provides a dazzling finale to each and every evening. Holiday Nights in Greenfield Village is America’s premier holiday celebration!"

My biggest tip to anyone who is thinking about going is to plan ahead what route you want to take through the village before you go. It was quite overwhelming to try and find everything in the dim lights and it was really easy to get turned around. Even though you have maps, its hard to see them with barely any lights! But we had fun regardless and we saw everything we came to see.

Here's some pictures from our visit:

Roast beef sandwiches for sale! They smelled soooo good!

This was one of our favorite activities-- horse-drawn wagon rides!
You could also ride in a Model T!

Santa waving and saying hi to all the boys and girls!
Overall, it was great fun but very cold! Thankfully, there were huge fire pits throughout the village being used as "warm up stations"! Our favorite activities were riding in the horse drawn wagons and seeing Santa. If you go tell one of Santa's helpers your child's name, Santa would say hi to them from the balcony. Z was pretty surprised when he said her name! This would make such a great family tradition to start. Have you ever been to Holiday Nights in Greenfield Village before?

  1. It's beautiful there! I haven't been in years and have to get back there. Have you ever thought about doing a MI blogger meetup? It would be so fun to connect w other local girls!
